  • Achievements, challenges or something to chase.
  • New game modes, table rules or ways to play with friends.

Coins

Can I buy coins?

No. There are no in-app purchases of any kind. You start with 1,000 coins, and after that coins can only be won at the table or begged for on the curb.

I ran out of coins. Now what?

Moose the bouncer walks you out to the curb. Wiggle your tin cup side to side and people walking by will toss coins in. Collect 250 and you head back inside.

How do I open the Neon Lounge and the High Roller?

Reach 1,500 coins once to open the Neon Lounge, and 5,000 coins once to open the High Roller. Back on the main menu the street swings over and the lock springs open. Once a casino is open it stays open, even if you go broke later. Swipe or use the arrows on the main menu to pick where you play.

Is this real gambling?

No. Retro Blackjack is a game. No real money is wagered, and coins can't be bought, sold, traded or cashed out.

I reinstalled the app. Where are my coins?

When you're signed in to iCloud, your coins, stats and unlocked casinos are saved to your iCloud and come back when you reinstall, or when you play on another iPhone or iPad with the same Apple Account. If iCloud was off, progress was saved only on the device, and restoring the device from a backup brings it back.

Playing

How do I hit, stand, double and split?

Use hand signals on the felt, like at a real table:

  • Tap twice to hit.
  • Swipe across to stand.
  • Swipe up to double down. Between hands, swipe up to deal again with the same bet.
  • Two-finger tap to split a pair.

Tap the ⓘ button on the table to see the guide again. To take back your bet before the deal, use the trash can under the chips.

Why do I cut the deck?

After every shuffle at the Scrap and the Neon Lounge you slide the red card into the deck. The cards in front of it get played, then the dealer reshuffles. The High Roller uses a shuffling machine, so there's nothing to cut.

What are the house rules?

Blackjack pays 3 to 2 in every casino, and the dealer stands on all 17s. There's no minimum bet anywhere. The maximum bet is 100 at the Scrap, 500 at the Neon Lounge and 2,500 at the High Roller.

Is the dealing fair?

Yes. Cards come off a real shuffled shoe: 2 decks at the Scrap, 6 at the Neon Lounge, and 6 reshuffled every round by the High Roller's machine. Nothing peeks at your hand or changes the order.

Friend rooms

How do I play with friends?

Everyone needs to be signed in to Game Center (Settings app, then Game Center) and online. One player taps CREATE ROOM on the main menu and shares the 6-digit code. Up to two friends tap JOIN ROOM and enter it. Each of you picks a seat, and the host's casino and bet limits apply.

It says "Finish your hand first."

Rooms open between hands. Finish the hand you're playing, then try again.

It says multiplayer is turned off in Screen Time.

Multiplayer games are restricted on this device. Whoever manages Screen Time can allow them in Settings, under Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions, then Game Center.

Settings

The dealers swear. Can I change that?

Yes. In Options, set the profanity filter to Clean (swears swapped for softer words), Blurred (hidden behind a pixel mosaic, the default) or Full.

Can I hide the hand totals?

Turn off Hand totals in Options to add up the cards yourself.

The moving room makes me queasy.

Turn on Reduce Motion in Options. It holds the room and the street still.

Devices

Which devices does it run on?

Every iPhone and iPad that runs iOS 27 or iPadOS 27. On iPhone Duo, half-fold it like a laptop: the dealer stands on the top screen and the table lies on the bottom. Hold an iPhone Duo or iPad sideways and the game opens like a book, dealer on the left, table on the right.
